What is PADI?
PADI is the (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), the largest scuba training organization in the world. PADI Divers carry the most respected and sought after scuba credentials in the world. No matter where you choose to dive, your PADI certification card will be recognized and accepted. In fact, on most dive adventures you’ll be surrounded by other PADI Divers who made the same certification choice you did – to train with the world’s largest and most respected diver training organization.

Open Water Diver
Purpose: To provide students with the elemental knowledge and skills they need to safely gain experience in the diving environment and ultimately, to dive independently with a certified buddy. The course is performance-based and designed to take students from simple to complex learning objectives.
Requirements for Certification:
- Swimming Assessment
- Passing Score of 75% on (4) Quizzes and (1) Final Exam
- Successful Completion of Pool Skills Development
- (4) Open Water Dives
Advance Open Water Diver
Purpose: The PADI Advance Open Water program provides the novice diver with a structured, well-supervised means to gain additional experience. The program involves students in various underwater tasks that broaden their awareness of the environment
and their capabilities as divers.
Requirements for Certification:
- Open Water Diver certified (no waiting period or # of logged dive requirementstobegin AOW)
- Complete (5) academic knowledge reviews
- Participating in (5) open water dives over (1) weekend (Deep, Wreck/Night, Navigation, Multilevel, Buoyancy)
- Completing on more Buoyancy Dive that weekend also earns you your first Specialty Dive Certification
Specialty Diver
Purpose: To familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, challenges, and exposure for various special-interest areas in diving
Specialty Diver Program:
Cavern Diver Drift Diver
Deep Diver Dry Suit Diver
Equipment Specialist Multilevel Diver
Ice Diver U/W Naturalist
Night Diver Peak Performance Buoyancy
Research Diver Search & Recovery
Diver Propulsion Vehicle Wreck Diver
Enriched Air Nitrox Altitude Diver
U/W Hunter Boat Diver
Diver Propulsion Vehicle U/W Navigator
Rescue Diver
Purpose: To develop the necessaryknowledgeand skills for individualstoeffectivelyperform diver rescues and assists, manage diving-accident situations, render proper first aid, and qualify for Divemaster training.
Requirements for Certification:
- Advance Open Water Diver certified
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of the subject indicating acceptable performance on the Rescue Diver Final Exam (75% or higher)
- Become a certified Emergency First Responder in the last two years
- Participation and completion of (12) Open Water Rescue Scenarios 1 day in pool and ½ weekend
Master Scuba Diver
Purpose: The Master Scuba Diver Rating is the highest non-instructional rating in the PADI System; it is an expert-diver classification that denotes superior achievement.
Requirements for Certification:
- Rescue Diver certified or equivalent
- Have earned at least (5) or more PADI Specialties
